JAIPUR: Almost two months after a 60-year-old woman was brutally murdered at Tekchandpura village near Tunga in the outskirts of Jaipur, the police on Thursday have arrested one of her distant relatives. The illicit relationship of the accused had come to the notice of the deceased woman which led him to eliminate her.
According to police, the woman identified as Rukma Devi was brutally murdered with a smashed head on August 15 and her body was found on August 18.

"Initially, we thought it was a murder for gain as the woman had a huge property. Later, we worked to find out any other dispute into the matter. Our men in plain clothes were deployed in the village area and they collected some vital information relating to the case," said Kunwar Rastradeep, deputy commissioner of police (East) on Thursday.
He said that the accused identified as Madan Lal (38) a distant relative of the deceased was seen molesting a woman in the village. "The woman Rukma Devi spotted him molesting the woman and thus she warned him to make it public and not to repeat it again. The accused got annoyed and in a fit of rage first strangulated the woman and later smashed her head with a boulder," he added.
Police said that after the Rukma warned him not to be intimate with any woman, the accused came to the dilapidated house and killed the woman.
"It was found that the accused had illicit relationship with a woman in the village and after the older woman objected to such relationship, the accused eliminated her," he said.
