Middling clubs Atalanta BC (3-4-1, 10 points) and Inter Milan (3-3-2, 11 points) are going on opposite directions right now. The two teams face each other on Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Atleti Azzurri d'Italia Stadium to try and improve their records in the ongoing 2016-2017 Serie A season.

Atalanta began the season on a two-game losing skid, eventually losing four of their first five games to drop to the bottom quarter of the standings during the first few weeks of competitions.

Head coach Gian Piero Gasperini's boys were able to fend off all of Viola's attacks throughout the game as goalkeeper Etrit Berisha pulled off a clean sheet despite the hosts dominating ball possession and having numerous chances on goal.
Meanwhile, the opposite can be said on Inter Milan as the perennial contenders have started the season well but is on a downward spiral as of late. The team is currently on a two-game losing skid that snapped a four-game unbeaten run.
In their most recent match, Inter was nipped by newly-promoted side Cagliari, 1-2, at their own home field of Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in San Siro to drop their second straight game, The Guardian reported.
After a scoreless first half of play, Inter midfielder Joao Mario broke the game's deadlock in the 55th with a close-range right-footer. Cagliari forward Federico Melchiorri then scored a goal in the 71st to level the count to 1-1.
However, an own goal from goalkeeper Samir Handanovic with five minutes left before full-time handed the loss to head coach Frank de Boer's men.
