GUWAHATI: In a bid to improve the rural economy,
Rashtriya Gramin Vikas Nidhi (RGVN) has started
Unnati, a community-led
poverty alleviation programme in
Darrang district.
Under this project, RGVN will help in forming self-help groups, provide training on livelihood activity, formulate projects for them and then arrange loans. Livelihood and financial inclusion programmes will run under the project simultaneously.
The programme was formally launched at
Aulachowka in Darrang district on Wednesday.
"The unique feature of the programme is to form self-help groups of farmers, provide training on livelihood activity, formulate projects for them and then arrange loans. Even the interest rates are much lower than the rates charged by the existing micro finance institution," project manager Arindam Pal told TOI.
