AHMEDABAD: A man, out on bail in a murder case, was arrested by the RR Cell of
Gandhinagar range IGP for making extortion calls. The accused had recently made a call demanding Rs 1 crore protection money to a Gandhinagar-based businessman.
According to investigators,
Prakash Vankar, a resident of
Raisan, was arrested by Sector 7 police in 2011 for a murder case. He had got bail from
Gujarat high court in 2014.
Vankar alias Chino has four offences registered against him this year for extortion, intimidation, attempt to murder, dacoity, kidnapping and using a firearm with Sector 7, Pethapur and Infocity police stations in 2016.
On Wednesday, the RR Cell caught Vankar along with his associate
Bhoja Bharwad from near Sargasan. Vankar was found in possession of a country-made pistol.
