INDORE: On the eve of GIS 2016, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday made a strong pitch to investors by pointing out that with a 10% growth rate, Madhya Pradesh is the fastest growing state. It also offers water, electricity, good roads and land to prospective investors, he said.
The state government is determined to provide a single-window system to investors and every possible facility to set up plants in Madhya Pradesh, Chouhan said.
MP has emerged as the fastest growing state in agriculture, too, he pointed out, adding that this means the opportunities for the food processing sector are "tremendous".
Earlier in the day, Chouhan announced that the state government will declare Pithampur a tehsil of Dhar district to usher in development.
"A survey will be soon carried out to finalise the villages that will be included in the tehsil," Chouhan said, laying foundation stones for AKVN's Rs 30-crore industrial water supply project based on Narmada-Kshipra river link. This will go a long way in meeting future industry needs, he said, adding that Pithampur will be developed as an ideal industrial hub.
The chief minister laid the foundation for many public projects under the municipality, including a Rs 84.70 crore water supply scheme under the Amrut Mission. He also dedicated a Rs 26.11 crore urban water supply project.
Chouhan visited Badnawar area of Dhar district and inaugurated a rotor blade manufacturing unit by Suzlon. The CM said this unit will provide jobs to 450 people.
