AHMEDABAD: The state's anti-corruption bureau (ACB) arrested on Thursday a member of
Kheda nagarpalika for demanding and taking Rs 20,000 bribe.
Police said
Ghanshyam Gandhi was arrested from his residence at
Lambi Sheri in Kheda by a team led by inspector AA Shaikh after he received the money from the complainant. The money was demanded for issuing letter of cancellation of estimated tax on land by the nagarpalika authorities.
In another incident, a team of
Ahmedabad ACB trapped a mamlatdar office employee taking Rs 75,000 bribe. Prahlad
Patel, a resident of Dhrangadhra, was arrested from his office on Mamlatdar office premises at 1:30 pm when he accepted the money from the Ahmedabad-based complainant.
Patel had asked for Rs 1 lakh for entering the name of the complainant's sister in the revenue record of the land. He had already got Rs 25,000, said investigators.
