Kevin Ferguson Jr.'s Bellator debut on hold after opponent misses weight

The professional debut of Kevin Ferguson Jr., the son of the late Kimbo Slice, will once again have to wait.

Ferguson, nicknamed "Baby Slice," saw his welterweight bout scratched at Friday's Bellator 162 card in Memphis, Tennessee. His opponent, Rick Bing, missed weight by 16 pounds.

Bellator MMA officials confirmed to ESPN.com on Thursday that the bout has been cancelled. Ferguson, 23, was paid his show money and will be rescheduled to fight before the end of 2016.

This marks the second time Ferguson saw his pro debut called at the last minute. He was originally scheduled to fight in August at Bellator 160 until an MCL injury during training camp forced him to withdraw.

Ferguson made his amateur debut in March in Chicopee, Massachusetts, winning by knockout in 83 seconds. The YouTube video of the bout went on to garner over 1.6 million views -- that led to a phone call from Bellator MMA, which was promoting his father before his death.

Slice, who originally came to fame as a street-fighting internet sensation, passed away in June at the age of 42 due to congestive heart failure. He was just four months removed from his final MMA bout in February against Dhafir "Dada 5000" Harris at Bellator 149. Slice's victory by TKO was later overturned when he tested positive for steroids.

Friday's Bellator card at the FedEx Forum is headlined by a middleweight bout between former champion Alexander Shlemenko and Kendall Grove.
