Huma Qureshi

Huma Qureshi, who will be seen next in Jolly LLB 2 opposite Akshay Kumar, in Gurinder Chadha’s Viceroy’s House and also in a movie with her brother, actor Saqib Saleem, called Dobara, is known for her stellar acting acumen. She has been in the public eye since her debut in Gangs of Wasseypur. There’s little about her life that we wouldn’t know, considering how much has been already said and written about her so far…or so you would think. We caught up with the actor who was in Delhi to unveil Western Digital’s latest external hard drives and got her to reveal unheard facts about her. Here’s what she had to say:

1. Tough nut

Huma, who has always stood out for her unconventional choice of roles and for being herself in a cut-throat competitive industry, is no ordinary girl. She has climbed 4,000 metres to the top of Low Peak on Borneo Island in Malaysia. “The adventure gave a sense of accomplishment,” she says. It isn’t surprising that she loves to watch boxing matches of champion Manny Pacquiao.

2. Dial brother for help

She confesses, she is always on her phone and can’t do without it. “I am a social person. I need to constantly upload photos, memories, etc., so I always carry my Western Digital Passport with me that enables me to safely store my data and free up my phone. Apart from this, I also carry my iPad everywhere. However, I am not tech savvy and if I get stuck somewhere, I immediately call my brother to tell me what to do. I don’t understand the mechanics but I appreciate the fact that how gadgets have made our lives so comfortable,” she says.

3. Shoe fetish

Being a movie star comes with the added onus of having to look good always, especially in the age of social media. So one would expect to find a lot of clothes in Huma’s wardrobe, but she refutes it saying, “My wardrobe has more shoes than clothes. In fact, I have lost count of the number of pairs, but I have shoes for every mood ranging from flats to stilettos to sneakers.”

4. Beauty prescription

“In a profession like mine, where your schedules are often skewed, it’s a constant struggle to eat healthy and sleep enough, at least for six to eight hours,” says Huma, who has been training with Yasmin Karachiwala and packs in an hour of exercise every day. The practice she follows to a T is drinking lots of water throughout the day and eating fruits loaded with vitamin C. “They keep me looking fresh and glowing,” she quips.

5. Night ritual

The actor can never go to bed without taking a hot bath. “I almost always have these knots on my back and a hot bath eases them off. I also tie up my hair in a messy top bun before I hit the bed as I don’t like hair falling on my face when I am sleeping,” she reveals.
