LUCKNOW: Body of a five-year-old girl was taken out of
Indira canal in

According to police, an irrigation department employee posted at
Juggaur regulator of the
Indira Canal, in
Gosaiganj spotted a body stuck under the water escape gate at 8.30am on Thursday and informed police.
The police said the girl was clad in a purple T-shirt and a jeans. "The body was swollen and seemed more than two days old. There were injuries at the back of the head," the police said. Chinhat police station officer
S K Katiyar said fish and other aquatic creatures had eaten one eye and some parts of the face.
"A case of murder and of destroying evidence had been registered against unidentified miscreants while police are trying to ascertain identity of the girl," said a police spokesperson.
