Billboard Dance Chart Upstarts: Pet Shop Boys, Party Favor & Seven Lions

Pet Shop Boys, “Say It to Me”
The latest single from Super, Pet Shop Boys‘ “Say It to Me” saunters onto the Dance Club Songs chart (dated Oct. 29) as the Hot Shot Debut (No. 31). Remixes from TomDeMac, Real Lies and Moodyboy, among others, help propel the entry, the first since PSB’s “The Pop Kids,” which became the act’s 11th No. 1 on April 30 (exactly 30 years after “West End Girls” hit the top in 1986). In tandem with the release, the legendary UK duo of Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe also served up two non-album tracks, “A Cloud in a Box” and “Dead Can Dance.”
Super spent two weeks at No. 1 on Top Dance/Electronic Albums this spring and has sold 20,000 copies thus far, according to Nielsen Music, while its April 23 debut-week sales of 10,000 is the fifth-highest total of any album this year. The duo’s Super Tour, currently in its North American leg, has dates scheduled through February in Paris.
Party Favor featuring Georgia Ku, “In My Head”
DJ Party Favor (real name: Dylan Ragland) scores his first entry on a Billboard songs chart as “In My Head,” featuring vocals from Georgia Ku, debuts on Dance/Mix Show Airplay at No. 24. (It’s also the first Billboard chart action at all for Ku.) The track boasts the majority of its plays from full-time dance-formatted station KYLI Las Vegas (50 in the week ending Oct. 16), as well as network affiliates SiriusXM BPM (42) and Music Choice Dance/EDM (24). Party Favor’s debut EP, Party and Destroy, debuted at No. 6 on Top Dance/Electronic Albums on Sept. 3, selling 1,000 copies. The Mad Decent act’s EP also contains tracks featuring Dillon Francis, Sean Kingston and Gucci Mane, among others.
Seven Lions, Illenium & Said the Sky featuring HALIENE, “Rush Over Me”
The latest from DJ/producer Jeff Montalvo, a.k.a. Seven Lions, sold 1,000 downloads in the tracking week, and enters Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales at No. 41. It’s Montalvo’s third visit to the chart and the first each for fellow DJs Illenium and Said the Sky, as well as vocalist Haliene. Earlier this year, Seven Lions followed two Dance/Mix Show Airplay top 10s with “Falling Away” (featuring Lights), which reached No. 11. His U.S. Journey Tour continues through December.
