SRML Parade wins gold in Badminton, MHAC Nagbani lifts boys Football title

JAMMU, Oct 20: The Day 7 of School Olympics saw very keenly contested matches for the titles of Volleyball, Football, Kabaddi and Badminton.
In the Badminton girls’ Singles, Peeyushi of KV No 1 won gold by defeating Bhavini of DPS, Jammu in the final. In the Boys’ Singles, Raghav of SRML, Parade won gold by defeating Mohit of APS Kaluchak.
In Boys’ Volleyball, Sainik School, Nagrota added gold to their tally by defeating HSS, Jourian in the most thrilling encounter of the School Olympics where fortunes fluctuated with each set. Sainik School won by 22-25, 25-23, 25-16, 23-25 and 15-12. JSK HSS Jourian won Bronze in the same event.
In the Boys’ Football, MHAC Nagbani won gold by defeating KV No. 2 (3-0) in the final. Jodhamal Public School won Bronze.
In the boys’ Kabaddi, BSF Paloura had a tough fight for Gold against St Francis HSS, Akhnoor, in the final. SIRS, Bishnah won bronze in the same event. In girls’ Kabaddi, SOS Hermann won gold by comfortably defeating ST. Francis, Akhnoor in the final. Government High School, Satrayan settled for Bronze.
Sat Sharma, MLA, Jammu West and Rajesh Gupta, MLA, Jammu East were chief guests at the Medal Ceremonies of Volleyball and Girls’ Kabaddi. Gagan Bhagat, MLA, R.S. Pura was the chief guest at Boys’ Kabaddi event.
In girls’ Athletics, Maira Nizami of Presentation Convent won gold in Shotput with a throw of 6.49 meters. SOS Hermann won silver in the same event. In 200 metres, Aditi Aryan of DPS, Jammu, won gold, whereas Sakshi Koul of MHAC, Nagbani won silver. In 1500 meters, Shikha Sharma of GHSS Channi Himmat won gold. In Triple Jump, Tanisha Jamwal of BSF Paloura won gold whereas Jyoti Devi of GHSS, Rabta won silver.
The Half Marathon of School Olympics would be held tomorrow from MA Stadium. Around 250 students in both boys and girls category will participate in the said event.
The closing ceremony of the games will also be held tomorrow at 3 pm at BSF Campus, Paloura. Imran Ansari, Minister of Sports will be the chief guest, whereas, MOS, Education, Priya Sethi will be guest of honour.
