Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Jat Aaraskhan Sangharsh Samiti (ABJASS) today protested against the state government for registering a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC against five Jat youths who threw ink on BJP MP Raj Kumar Saini in Kurukshetra on October 16.

In a memorandum sent to the Chief Minister, the samiti demanded withdrawal of Section 307 of the IPC and and registration of an FIR against supporters of the MP for thrashing the youths.

District ABJASS president Capt Bhupinder Singh (retd) said that the government was not acting fairly in the case. He said that the youths only threw ink and were not carrying any weapon. “We are surprised that the police have booked them under serious charges within no time. This shows that a particular community is on the target of the government,” he alleged.

He said that the Jat youths were beaten up by supporters of the MP mercilessly in the presence of the police, but the government was soft on them. “We want the police to register a case against them otherwise the government will be responsible for dire consequences,” he said.

Singh said: “We condemn the act of throwing ink, but feel that the MP himself is responsible for the incident. Saini is trying to create a rift among 36 communities in the state and the youths had just expressed their anger.”

Saini creating drama, says Sangwan

Bhiwani: Jat leader Hawa Singh Sangwan said the ink attack on MP Raj Kumar Saini was wrong. Sangwan said that brutal thrashing of accused by supporters of Saini before handing them over to the police was equally wrong. The ink attack was not the first such incident occurred with Saini and it had happened with several politicians but no one had created a drama like him by getting the accused booked under attempt to murder charge.

Khap starts dharna

Hisar: The Barah khap panchayat today started a dharna in protest against the registration of an attempt to murder case against five youths of Budana village in Narnaund tehsil of the district. Suresh Koth, president of the khap, said said the panchayat had served a five-day ultimatum on the state government to take a favourable decision on their demands. Koth said: “A case under Section 307 of IPC against the five youths is not justified and they would launch a statewide agitation on October 26 if the government fails to heed to their demands.” Former Hisar MP and BJP leader Surender Barwala also supported the dharna and demanded action against his party MP.

Saini’s medical report awaited

Kurukshetra: Investigators are waiting for the medical and forensic reports in the alleged complaint of attempt to murder local BJP MP Raj Kumar Saini. As four youths splashed black ‘oily substance’ on  the MP here on October 16, it was alleged that the accused tried to throttle him. A day later, another accomplice was arrested. All are residents of Budhana village in Hisar district. A local court sent them to 14-day judicial remand on Wednesday. Various Jat organisations, khap panchayats and the INLD raised objection on invoking stringent Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC against the accused, the district police said the matter was being probed. Simardeep Singh, SP, said medical examination report of Saini was yet to be obtained from the Civil Surgeon office. “Saini got himself medically examined at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Civil Hospital and the medical report may give some hint on the alleged attempt of throttling,” he said. The SP said the ‘oily substance’ had been sent to the FSL, Madhuban, to analyse if it was an incendiary material. The accused had reportedly told the police it was not ink but oil which was thrown on Saini. TNS
