Mussoorie, October 20

Chaudhry Kishanpal, president of the Rajya Safai Karamchari Ayog, today said the victimisation of the Paryavaran Mitras, earlier known as safai karamcharis working for the Municipal Council, would not be tolerated.

Kishanpal, after listened to the grievances of Paryavaran Mitras, said Chief Minister Harish Rawat was working for their betterment, who belong mostly to the Valmiki community. Members of the community should make the Valmiki Mahasabha Sammelan, scheduled for October 25 in Haridwar, a grand success, he said.

He said more powers would be sought for the Safai Karamchari Ayog from the Chief Minister during the convention. He aired his dissatisfaction over the absence of officials who were invited to the meeting to address Paryavaran Mitras. He said the Chief Minister would be apprised about it so that punitive action is taken against the erring officials. He said Paryavaran Mitras were doing an important job of cleaning the filth but their woes remained largely unaddressed.

Executive officer DS Rana, health officer Dr RK Singh and others were present on the occasion.—TNS
