SHAHJAHANPUR: The city’s ‘Cheetah’ team acquired a fleet of eight new high speed motorcycles on Thursday equipped with GPS and wireless, loud speakers, hooter siren and LED lights in order to respond to crimes like snatching, robbery and eve-teasing quickly and effectively.
The fleet of new Cheetah motorcycles was flagged waved off SP, rural, Ramesh Kumar Bhartiya in the presence of circle officer Avnishwar Chand Srivastava at the SP office here on Thursday afternoon.

Soon the Cheetah service will be linked to “dial 100” service to facilitate quick response to crime. Besides as many as 54 GPS-enabled four-wheelers will soon be part of the patrolling system and the “dial 100” service will be faster even in remote areas of the district.
Once a GPS command centre is set up, both “dial 100” service and Cheetah service will be linked to it.
“Criminals are getting modern and it is important for police to be one step ahead of them. Soon the Cheetah bikes and 54 four-wheelers will be hooked to the GPS. A modern command centre of ‘dial 100’ will be operative soon and will facilitate us to identify the location of the caller and identify the nearest police vehicle which can respond to the call. The time to reach the crime spot will definitely be faster after the ‘dial 100’ service is initiated,” said Bhartiya

“We have been given eight motorcycles with various facilities like GPS, wireless system, hooter siren, loudspeakers, etc to tackle street crime effectively. Soon these bikes will be hooked with ‘dial 100’ service. We are expecting to get a few more bikes soon.”
Sanjeev Singh, a member of Cheetah team at Kotwali police station area of Shahjahanpur, said, “This bike has a very good pickup and will allow us to reach the crime spot at the earliest. We all are happy with this modernization of Shahjahanpur police.”
