Former UP Congress chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi who on Thursday joined the BJP, said that she was unhappy after some leaders, including some from her previous party, asked for proof of surgical strikes conducted by the Indian army last month in some of the terrorists camps in PoK.
Just months before the crucial Uttar Pradesh pollls, Bahuguna’s joining hands with BJP earlier in the day is a big jold for Congress.
Pointing out the reasons on why she switched over to the BJP, she said that statements like ‘Khoon ki dalali’ was not expected from the leader of a national party, referring to the Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi’s recent statement. Stressing that need of the hour is to stand by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, rather than playing political games.
Speaking to Times Now channel, she also said that the Congress president Sonia Gandhi is not central to decisions in the party anymore, therefore it was very difficult to communicate with Rahul Gandhi now a days and people in the state are also not accepting the Congress in the state anymore
Earlier in the day, while formally announcing her decision to join the BJP, she said that “There is no alternative to Modiji and BJP if Uttar Pradesh has to develop,” she said adding, “BJP and Modiji really want to take India forward on the path of development. I would do everything in my capacity to make BJP win in Uttar Pradesh.”
