With another allegations of honey trap and leakage in arms deal came to light on Thursday , Defence Minister assured the country that the Rafale is the best ever.
The day saw American whistle-blower C Edmonds Allen claiming in a letter to the prime minister that BJP leader and Member of the Parliament Varun Gandhi has been honey trapped by arm dealer Abhishek Verma.
Last month, India signed a deal with France for purchase of 36 Rafale fighter jets at a cost of €7.87 billion.
Allen, who is also a former agent of Verma, who has also exposed a number of arms contracts earlier, in a letter to PMO on September 6, has also submitted dozens of photographs to back his claim. He has also sent copies of the letter to Minister Manohar Parrikar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, a report in a TV report. The PMO has not yet responded to the letter.
Varun Gandhi used to be a member of Defence Consultative Committee. The report quotes senior BJP leaders clarifying that classified information on defence are not shared with members of the parliamentary committee.
In his response, Varun Gandhi has said that although he knew Abhishek Verma but never met him as an MP. He said he never introduced arms him to anbody nor did he share any sensetive files.
Rahul Gandhi further threatened to file the defamation case in the matter and alleged that the entire issue has been cropped up to defame him.
Late evening Abhishek Verma also denied the charges saying Allen was not his business partner.
