Child's play wins Aberdeen hospital award

A play service to help young patients at Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital has been honoured by a charity.

The Nancy Ovens Trust named the RACH play service winner of positive support for play award.

Activities such as art take place at the child's ward bedside or set-aside areas.

RACH play service manager Heather Beattie said: "We are the first hospital play service in Scotland to receive a Scottish Play Award."

She added: "I am delighted and extremely proud of the team and services we deliver.

"We thank the Nancy Ovens Trust for recognising the importance of play in the hospital setting and the services we provide here."

The Trust noted the positive feedback the service received.
