Selma Blair Opens Up About Plane Outburst, Calls It 'A Total Psychotic Blackout'

"I forgive myself, but I keep it alive."

Selma Blair appeared on “The Talk” Wednesday and addressed her recent mid-flight outburst, which took place this past summer.

The 44-year-old actress was on a flight from Mexico to Los Angeles with her 4-year-old son when she had a meltdown. Upon landing, Blair was removed from the plane on a stretcher and brought to a clinic. At the time, she issued a statement confirming she had mixed alcohol with medication, admitting, “I made a big mistake.”

“I am someone who should never drink, and I rarely do, and I don’t drink anymore, but I was going through something,” Blair told “The Talk” hosts. “I had a glass of wine and someone gave me a pill that I thought was something that I’d taken before … it was something completely different … and I had a total psychotic blackout.”

She added that her son was with his father and had slept through the whole thing. Since she knew he was about to fall asleep with his headphones on, she took the pill, which she said was a “bad choice all around.”

Instead of trying to make an excuse for her decision, Blair said, “I totally own it. I keep it alive in me everyday. I forgive myself, but I keep it alive.”
