Dahanu bound male commuters booked and fined for nuisance inside train.
Staff told commuters to get off the train and about 50 of them lined up in a row along the platform to tilt the carriage.
MUMBAI:Fifteen men travelling in the Dahanu local train,who clashed with their counterparts wanting to alight at Virar railway station on Wednesday night have been booked and fined for causing nuisance and trespass by the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
The RPF at Virar had on Wednesday night carried out a surprise check in the newly introduced Churchgate-Dahanu Road local train after complaints of Virar commuters being prevented from alighting at their station.As the train arrived on platform 3 in Virar,RPF personnel were at the station.On finding men blocking the door,the uniformed cops entered the second class compartment and began lathi-charging the men.
What followed was chain-pulling and screams from the commuters.
The police arrested 15 men headed to Vaitarna, Safale and Palghar. They were booked under sections 141 (needlessly interfering with means of communication in a train),145(nuisance)and 147(trespass or refusal to desist from trespass).They were fined between Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000.
