It is what we do, not say, that shows people how much they mean to us, and Saudi TV host Badr al Zidane shocked his viewers on Wednesday after shaving his head off on live air to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease.

The heartthrob is famous for his luscious locks, but he didn't seem to mind getting rid of them for a good cause.

Badr told his viewers, while shaving his head, that his mum came to him four years ago with the news that she had breast cancer, pointing out that early detection was behind her fast recovery.

He added that several days ago he read an article that read: "One in eight women could have breast cancer right now."

"I thought to myself: How many of my female viewers could have breast cancer without even realizing it?," Badr said.

Badr insisted that all woman must visit an early detection centre as early as possible.

"We can beat cancer through early detection. If every husband followed up on his wife's health, if every mother urged her daughter to test, and if every friend urged her female friend to go for check ups, we would be able to beat this," insisted Badr.
