Mumbai: Bollywood’s bubbly babe Preity Zinta, who married American beau Gene Goodenough in a hush-hush ceremony in the US in February this year, celebrated her first Karva Chauth in style yesterday.

Zinta entered matrimony as a traditional Rajasthani bride while her groom was dressed as a Rajput Prince. Like a true Indian newly-married lady, Zinta observed the Karva Chauth vrat but in her own way.

Since her husband isn’t in India right now, she connected with his through Skype to break her fast.

In a series of tweets, she described her first Karva Chauthin her typical style:

Zinta, who respects Indian tradition and culture, gave a fitting response to a follower who asked a sarcastic question to her. Check out Zinta’s response here:

“Why is there a tax to observe #karvachauth ? Sorry couldn't resist .... Cuz I think you have forgotten I am recently married (sic).”

Karva Chauth, traditionally known as Karaka Chaturthi is an auspicious day in the Hindu calendar when women observe fast to pray for the well-being of their husband. These days, men too have started fasting for their wives to pray for their good health.
