BILASPUR: Civil Lines police have arrested one more person in connection with a fraud committed against two traders of the city in the name of getting them a franchisee of multinational brand KFC. Civil Lines police have already arrested five members of an inter-state gang.
According to police, the latest arrest was made from Haryana. The arrested accused has been identified as Ramanprit Singh, who was at present residing in Amritsar.
Earlier on September 25, a team of Civil Lines police had gone to Delhi and arrested Rohit Sharma from Jahangirabad, Delhi.
Sharma is a resident of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Others arrested on September 25 include Mahendra Kumar Pal alias Golu who lives in New Delhi's Mukund Nagar and Udaiveer Singh, also a resident of the national capital.
A second team of Bilaspur police had visited New Delhi again on October 6 and arrested mastermind of the fraud Lalit Kumar and another person Vishal Kashyap. During preliminary interrogation of the accused, police got to know the number of Ramanprit.
Cops then got a tip-off about Ramanprit. A team of Civil Lines police was dispatched to New Delhi on October 13 and they arrested him on Monday. The team returned to Bilaspur along with the accused on Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, one more accused identified as Bablu Kashyap who is also wanted in connection with the case, is still absconding. Police are hopeful of arresting him soon.
The accused had duped two traders of the city off more than Rs 80 lakh in the name of getting them KFC franchisee by creating a fake email ID of the multinational company.
