Woman raped, murdered by relative, his friends
CHANDIGARH: A 35-year-old woman was found brutally murdered in a Mahindra Scorpio on the outskirts of Mewat district's Rithat village on Tuesday morning after she was allegedly gangraped by an uncle of her husband and his associates.
A case of murder and gang rape has been registered against the uncle, who has been accused of smuggling cows in the past, at Nagina police station of Mewat.
Nagina station house officer (SHO) Shamsher Singh, who is investigating the case, said police teams were conducting raids to round up the accused.
"We will be in the position to identify the other accused only after we arrest the uncle," he said.
According to information, the woman had gone to her parents' home to visit her ailing mother. On Monday evening, the uncle came to pick the woman up by telling her that her mother-in-law had been electrocuted. "He insisted that her parents send the victim to her husband's home. Next morning, her body was found lying in the same car in which the uncle had gone to pick her up. The body was in a bad shape," said the SHO.
According to police, the body was lying in the back seat of the SUV. Some glasses, bottles of beer and whiskey, and the uncle's mobile phone were found in the vehicle. "The uncle has a criminal background and had been involved in cases of cow smuggling. The preliminary investigation and autopsy report suggest that the victim had multiple injuries on the head and strangulation marks and other injuries all over her body. There was a struggled before she was murder," SHO Shamsher said.
He added that they were awaiting the forensic report to confirm rape. The woman's body was discovered by some passers-by who informed the police.
