AGARTALA: The
Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) is exploring the possibility of bringing filled cooking gas cylinders from plants in Assam or
West Bengal via Bangladesh to manage the
LPG crisis in
Tripura.
After holding a meeting with IOCL, civil supplies minister Bhanu Lal Saha said on Wednesday that consumers of Tripura have been suffering from a 75-day backlog of LPG supply due to inadequate bottling in Silchar and Bishalgarh plants for the past few months.
"To manage the situation, we have requested the IOCL to bring filled cylinders from West Bengal via waterway to
Ashuganj port and carry them by road to Tripura," Saha said.
