Teachers represented by the ZNP trade union are going to continue organizing protests against the education reform proposed by the government of Law and Justice (PiS).

ZNP does not rule out any form of protest including a strike if the Education Ministry does not back out of its plans to abolish mid-schools.

Teachers say that the reform, which will restore eight-year primary school and four-year high school, was introduced without consultations, will introduce chaos to schools and will destroy the achievements of the educational system of the recent years. Additionally, teachers seek some 10% salary increase.

The trade union plans a protest in front of the Parliament building on the day of first reading of the bill in the lower house and will hold a large demonstration on November 19 if the former fails to bring an effect.

The Polish government is determined to run the education reform, PM Beata Szydlo said last week adding that the reform is well-prepared and secures teachers' jobs.
