MYSURU: Just two days after former revenue minister V Srinivasa Prasad submitted his resignation to speaker KB Koliwad blaming chief minister Siddaramaiah for his decision, there's been hectic political activity in his constituency Nanjangud.
PWD and district minister HC Mahadevappa held an open meeting on Tuesday evening at a hotel in the city with Nanjangud Congress activists to discuss the party's next course of action and the development activities which needed to be taken up in the taluk.

On Tuesday, senior officers of the district administration along with deputy commissioner Randeep and zilla panchayat CEO Shivashankar visited Nanjangud taluk to inspect the drinking water facilities and availability of cattle fodder. Later, they met taluk officers to take up development works.
Randeep told officials to implement measures to provide drinking water. "The officials should identify private borewells and if a problem for drinking water arises in the taluk, such borewells should be used for water supply," he said, and directed Shivashankar to provide a demand letter for water tankers, if needed.
The Kapila river water supply project to 221 villages is in progress and around Rs 44 crore is being spent for bringing 32 more villages under it. By 2018, all drinking water will be supplied to all villages in the taluk, Randeep said.
During the meeting, Mahadevappa said Nanjangud lacks basic civic amenities like roads and UGD systems which had to be immediately addressed. "In order to take up works on a war footing, CM Siddaramaiah will meet district officers on October 23 and the
Karnataka Development Programmes (KDP) meeting is on October 27. Randeep will conduct the meeting with taluk officers regularly to review the works," he said.
Meanwhile, some Congress activists who attended the meeting urged Mahadevappa to field his son Sunil Bose as the Congress candidate for Nanjangud assembly constituency if there is a bypoll after Prasad's resignation.
Stating that the Congress party high command will decide the candidate, Mahadevappa said Sunil Bose and the CM's younger son Dr Yathindra will work together for the development of the constituencies.
