BELAGAVI: The Uttar Karnataka Horata Samiti, headed by RTI activist Bhimappa Gadad and mentored by retired IAS officer SM Jamdar, has launched a website to seek public opinion on the demand for a separate North Karnataka state.
With www.ukhs13.in, the Samiti aims at collecting opinions from about 1 crore people of North Karnataka and carry out a legal battle based on the response. "We have already collected the opinion of 2,49,553 people, of which 96% have favoured a separate statehood for North Karnataka," Gadadsaid.
The Samiti's demands includes shifting of all secretariat-level offices to Suvarna Vidhana Soudha at Belagavi and mandating all the ministers to spend one day a month in SVS to hear public grievances.
