A Dalit man, working at Amreli civil hospital, allegedly attempted suicide by consuming phenyl opposite the office of its resident medical officer Tuesday. He survived the bid. Sources said Manish Gohil, one of the 60 employees at the hospital, attempted to end his life to protest non-payment of salaries for the last three months.
All the 60 employees had gone on strike, demanding their salary dues and Gohil tried to take his life. He was later discharged from the hospital.
