Shivpal misled you, conspired against CM Akhilesh Yadav: Mainpuri MLC writes to Mulayam

Singh, an MLC from Etah-Mathura-Mainpuri local body constituency, demanded that Akhilesh be named as the party’s national president and handed over all powers of the organisation.

SAMAJWADI PARTY (SP) MLC from Mainpuri, Udaiveer Singh, on Wednesday wrote to party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, alleging that state SP president Shivpal Yadav and other members of his family had misled him and hatched a conspiracy against Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

Singh, an MLC from Etah-Mathura-Mainpuri local body constituency, demanded that Akhilesh be named as the party’s national president and handed over all powers of the organisation.

When contacted, he said, “I have expressed my sentiments and views in the interest of the party. My view is that the person (Akhilesh), who is being projected as the leader, should be given authority as well.”

In the letter, Singh said Shivpal had expelled seven youth leaders of SP on false grounds, which was “against social justice”. He added that dedicated workers of the party would not tolerate the insult of a “good leader like Akhilesh”.

Singh, in the letter, went on to claim that Shivpal was the supporter of Mukhtar Ansari’s Quami Ekta Dal (QED). He alleged that it was indiscipline on part of Shivpal that he made public allegations that party leaders of Mainpuri were involved in land grabbing and illegal liquor business. He said Shivpal was supposed to speak to Mulayam personally on the issue instead of speaking to the media.

Festive offer

The MLC claimed that Mulayam had motivated Shivpal to make such allegations and also did not take action when MLA and party district president of Mainpuri issued a press note making objectionable comments against SP national general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav.

In the letter, Singh alleged that after the 2012 Assembly poll results, when Mulayam’s wish to propose Akhilesh’s name for the CM post became public, a conspiracy was hatched against Akhilesh within the family and Shivpal contacted various leaders to stop Mulayam from making him the chief minister.

“…Shivpal insulted Akhilesh publicly on various occasions. This gang needed a chatur chaalbaaz and none other than Amar Singh (Rajya Sabha MP) could have played that role,” he added.

Singh wrote that while the CM was not targeted when a news magazine described him as “the worst CM” of the country and when the party lost in the last Lok Sabha polls, “when surveys started reporting that Akhilesh and SP was at the number 1 position”, the party’s internal fight was brought to the fore.

He alleged that while Mulayam gave importance to infamous (minister) Gayatri Prasad Prajapati over Akhilesh, Shivpal too included his closed aides in his state team by insulting dedicated leaders like Naresh Uttam and S R S Yadav.

Calling it an “insult of Akhilesh”, the MLC gave an instance of Shivpal declaring a list of Assembly poll candidates on his own at a time when the CM had demanded his “say” in the distribution of tickets. “If the election has to be contested in the name and works of Akhilesh, he should be empowered to take all related decisions,” he wrote, adding that Mulayam should realise that Akhilesh was his “political heir” and not an “alternative”.
