ED promotes Niranjan Singh as Dy Director

BATHINDA: The Union Finance Ministry has promoted Enforcement Directorate (ED) Assistant Director Niranjan Singh, who was in limelight last year for investigating the alleged money laundering part of the Rs 6,000-crore synthetic drugs racket, as a Deputy Director.

The Union Finance Ministry has promoted Enforcement Directorate (ED) Assistant Director Niranjan Singh, who was in limelight last year for investigating the alleged money laundering part of the Rs 6,000-crore synthetic drugs racket, as a Deputy Director.

His name figures in the list of 15 ED officers promoted by the Union Ministry of Finance today. Other Assistant Directors who have been promoted are JP Singh, Karnal Singh, JP Mishra, Niranjan Subudhi, P Veerachelan, CMC Reddy, NK Dhaka, AK Kaushal, AS Budhwar, Satendra Singh, RK Tiwari, Joseph George, J Subramaniam and GC Parihar.

Niranjan Singh was transferred to Kolkata on January 16 last year days after he had questioned a Punjab politician. The Punjab and Haryana High Court had stayed his transfer which was finally revoked on November 13 last year.

However, the promotion orders did not mention the new posting places of the officers. Official sources said it implied that they would remain at their current place of postings.
