Faridabad, October 19

The police today destroyed drugs and intoxicants seized during the past several years.

“Nearly 130 kg drugs, including ganja and charas, were destroyed in a safe and environmentally-friendly manner,” said Commissioner of Police Hanif Qureshi. He said it was perhaps for the first time that seized drugs were destroyed in an incinerator and not through the traditional manner of burning such items in the open.

He said the seized drugs were taken to the incinerator of a private waste disposal company at Jasana village, where it was burnt electrically. Revealing that psychotropic substances were recovered in 45 cases, he said a majority of the cases were registered between 2010 and 2015. A couple of cases had been pending since 2000 and 2001, it was added. —TNS
