Delhi: The
National Green Tribunal on Wednesday pulled up NCR states for not being clear on their policy on
CNG.
NGT directed Uttar Pradesh, Haryana,
Punjab,
Rajasthan and Delhi to clarify their policy on the usage of CNG as the main fuel for public transport.
A bench headed by NGT chairperson, Justice Swatanter Kumar said all states have to clarify whether they have the infrastructure for supply and distribution of CNG.
The tribunal has previously ordered Uttar Pradesh and Haryana governments to see how many more CNG stations could be installed in NCR.
It asked both the states to consider the proposal after it was informed that there was no CNG station in Karnal district and Meerut.
The tribunal also asked Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board to submit a detailed plan for laying of pipeline for the distribution of CNG and PNG in the NCR region.
