While we laughed our ribs out at all the trolls that emerged after James Bond fame Pierce Brosnan on Pan Bahar commercials, the advertisement span seems to be nearing an end. If reports are to be believed, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) might ban the viral ad.
This comes after the CBFC Chief Pahlaj Nihalani had said that there is no way to certify the ad as it endorses death to people.
In an interview with DNA, Nihalani said ”I haven’t seen the ad. But it is very difficult to believe Pierce Brosnan has done this. Money can hardly be a criteria when you’re selling death to people. However, he has chosen to do what he has done. But there is no way we can certify the ad. All pan masala, tobacco, alcohol ads are automatically and unconditionally banned.”
And since promotion of alcohol and tobacco by means of cinema and electronic media is banned legally, the ad might just have to bid a goodbye to all.
His charm might have swayed ladies in the Bond series but the CBFC is a tough nut to crack and now even Brosnan can vouch for that.
