Citing possible chances of by-polls in 21 constituencies in the national capital, the Delhi unit of Congress announced plans to begin campaigning in the respective constituencies whose MLAs were appointed parliamentary secretaries by the AAP government.
In September the Delhi High court had canceled the appointments of 21 parliamentary secretaries, whom the Congress had accused of being illegally appointed by the Aam Aadmi Party government and were facing potential disqualification for holding an office of profit.
Naming the campaign as ‘Meri Dilli, Mere Sapne’ (My Delhi, my dreams) the congress Delhi unit party chief, Ajay Maken stressed on crowd-sourcing to provide ‘real solutions’ to the problems faced in the capital. The congress is in plans of sending party workers from door-to-door to seek opinions from common people.
Promising to make the process of revenue inflow of the municipal corporations transparent, if they win the civic body elections, the Delhi unit of the party had also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for not meeting up the basic civic needs of people.
The Delhi unit party chief stressed on four areas for major attention by the municipality – solid waste management, fiscal management, primary education and health.
