Torquay United boss Kevin Nicholson was upset with how his side responded to their mistakes as they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Woking.

Sam Chaney scored his first goal as Torquay took a 22nd minute lead in the fourth qualifying round tie.

But two goals in a four-minute period after half time from Gozie Ugwu put Woking in the first round.

"What upset me was the reaction after the mistakes," player-manger Nicholson told BBC Radio Devon.

"It's a hard process for a young lad to go through in a pressured situation of first team football, but for them to improve they've got to make them.

"At the moment when they make them they're going into their shell, and it's for me to breed a group of players that are going to make a mistake brush it off and go again."

The Gulls have not won an FA Cup tie since 2011, failing to reach the first round in every season since they were relegated to the National League.

"They need to grow up quickly because we had three targets this season, an FA Cup run, a good strong league campaign and a run in the FA Trophy.

"One of those targets has now gone, we've let it go and I think it's of our doing and our fault - we've got two targets to go for now."
