MARGAO: Canacona judicial magistrate first class (JMFC)
Sarika Faldessai recently convicted and sentenced an accused person,
Joel Fernandes, resident of Patnem, Colomb-Canacona, to six months rigorous imprisonment for the illegal possession of narcotic drugs, charas and ganja.
Canacona JMFC Faldessai further directed that Fernandes undergo two months imprisonment if he defaults in the payment of the fine of 10,000, assistant public prosecutor (APP) advocate
Coleman Rodrigues told TOI.
Rodrigues said, “The accused, Fernandes, was caught red-handed near the Government Primary School, Colomb-Canacona when he arrived to deliver drugs to prospective customers. A chargesheet was filed on July 12, 2014, based upon the complaint dated November 26, 2013, filed by then Canacona PSI Prashal Dessai.
Six witnesses were examined to prove the guilt of the accused Fernandes, who was defended by advocate Shirish Naik.
