LUCKNOW: A day after speculations of former UPCC chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi switching over to BJP gained momentum, BSP chief Mayawati said BJP was orchestrating defections in political parties out of sheer frustration. Mayawati did not make any direct reference to Joshi but her statement was read in the light of the Congress leader's speculated defection.
"BJP finds itself in a poor state and is, therefore, trying to hurt other political parties,'' Mayawati said in a statement.
Though Mayawati did not make a direct reference to Joshi, political experts read her statement vis-à-vis Congress. Her attack on BJP also comes in the backdrop of her recent political moves that supported the Grand Old Party-ostensibly BSP's outright support to Congress in Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh and then an indirect support during the Rajya Sabha and legislative council polls.
Meanwhile, Mayawati also criticised defence minister Manohar Parikkar for giving PM Narendra Modi and RSS the credit for surgical strikes carried out on terror launch pads in PoK. She said instead of the PM and RSS, the defence minister should have given credit to the brave soldiers of the Indian Army.
She reiterated that BJP was trying to give the military operations a political overtone to gain mileage in states, including UP, where assembly elections are due in few months. Mayawati accused the RSS of being an organisation that tends to spread hatred amongst the communities. She said though RSS claimed it was cultural organisation, it always worked politically in favor of one particular party.
