Shortcuts for an 'easy' Karvachauth

LUCKNOW: From installing Karva katha recitation apps, buying puja accessories and hampers online to opting for instant mehndi cones and traditional dresses, women this Karvachauth have turned smarter.
Not ready to spend hours in the kitchen cooking 'sargi' and other puja essentials, many married women are placing their orders online this year. "Since I stay away from my hometown, I never had a katha book.It was this app on katha which came to my rescue," said Madhulika. The availability of almost all the Karvachauth essentials online has saved a lot of time.“Shopping and then fasting all day used to be taxing. This year, I ordered all the puja items online," said Babli, who has been observing the fast for the past 30 years.
Women are also opting for instant mehndi this year. Applying the traditional mehndi is time-taking so women are going for instant ones. "Instant mehndis are costly but save time," said Mukta, a beautician. Meanwhile, many are busy placing their orders on e-commerce sites. "Every year, I wait for discounts and deals, which the shopping websites offer during the festival season. This year too, I got a dress free on buying a lehenga for Karvachauth," said Harshika Srivastava.
