VADODARA: A 52-year-old housewife was arrested by Raopura police for siphoning off Rs 7.77 lakh from her dead father-in-law's account. Kalapana Salunke, a resident of Waghodiya Road, had withdrawn the cash by furnishing fake documents.
Salunke's father-in-law Marutirao Salunke was a retired railway employee and had been receiving pension regularly in his bank account. Marutirao passed away in 2012 but he had signed many blank cheques before he died.
Salunke used these cheques and furnished false proofs to the bank that Marutirao was alive and withdrew Rs 7.77 lakh in different amounts since 2012 till February this year.
