ASWJ chief detained over attack

KARACHI - The law-enforcement agencies on Tuesday sped up the operation against the outlawed militant organisations following the cracker attack in Liaquatabad that claimed the life of a twelve-year-old boy, Faraz Shabbir Hussain, and wounded over 15 others.

The LEAs detained a Karachi chapter chief of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) for questioning over the recent attack on an Imambargah in District Central. Hussain was killed while nearly 15 others, including women and children, were wounded when an Imambargah in District Central came under attack on Monday night.

The funeral prayer of the deceased boy was offered at Imambargah Khayer ul Ammal, Ancholi Society after Zuhrain prayers which besides family members and relatives were also attended by the leaders and scholars of various Shiite organizations, including Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM).

The protesters also staged a protest against the incident and demanded the arrest of the culprits.
