Teacher arrested for blackmail, extortion

The crime branch on Monday arrested a teacher, Rameshwar Jadhav (44), for allegedly extorting his colleague and threatening to file a harassment case against him.

AURANGABAD: The crime branch on Monday arrested a teacher, Rameshwar Jadhav (44), for allegedly extorting his colleague and threatening to file a harassment case against him.
According to assistant commissioner of police (crime), Kushalchand Baheti, the complainant, Mohan Wankhede is a resident of Ashok Nagar Laxmi Colony. The complainant said that he had been receiving extortion calls from Jadhav's cellphone since October 5.
Jadhav allegedly demanded that Wankhede pay him Rs 2 lakh for not lodging a complaint of harassment against him.
Fed up with frequent calls, the teacher approached the commissioner of police Amitesh Kumar on Monday and told him about the threatening calls. The CP directed the crime branch to investigate.
Later, Wankhede received another threatening call from Jadhav, saying that he would proceed with lodging the case if he did not pay Rs 10,000 of the Rs 2 lakh. He directed him to bring the money to Tejal Park in the Mayur Colony area where Jadhav resides.
The crime branch officials laid a trap on Monday evening and arrested Jadhav when he was accepting the money. He was handed over to the Harsul police and was booked under sections 384 extortion and 506 criminal intimidation.
