AHMEDABAD: Santosh Bhintade, 44, from
Jalgaon was a convict and had served a life sentence. He had completed his BCom in 1989 and then pursued a BA in history from an open university. He was in jail from 1995 to 2009 after he murdered a man in a brawl. In jail, he read
Mahatma Gandhi's autobiography and even participated in Gandhi Kathas.
That changed his life. "I vowed to always say the truth," Bhintade said.
"After serving the life term, I could not get a match for a year. But one day I did get married and now have two children." Today Bhintade visits various jails of
Maharashtra to spread
Gandhiji's words and is employed with the Gandhi Research Foundation in Jalgaon.
