Uttarakhand Women Congress president and MLA Sarita Arya today said they had sought ticket for women in at least 20 out of 70 seats in the forthcoming Assembly elections in the state.
Sarita, while addressing a press conference here, said the state Women Congress had already put forward the demand of women workers for providing party ticket to women in as many as 20 Assembly constituencies.
He appealed to his fellow women Congress workers to submit their resume with the state Women Congress so that their candidature could be put forward before the party central leadership.
Arya, responding to a query, said the exit of Rita Bahuguna Joshi from the Congress was a foregone conclusion. “After the exit of her brother Vijay Bahuguna from the Congress, it was certain that she too will join the BJP,” Arya said.
She said Uttarakhand was witnessing all-round development under the leadership of Chief Minister Harish Rawat. She added that the three-day training workshop would be organised in Haridwar in the first week of November. Sobha Oza, national president of the Women Congress, would attend the workshop.
