Offer job-oriented courses: Srihari tells VCs

Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari today emphasized the need for strengthening the universities to roll out students to serve the society and get optimal opportunities to get jobs. Srihari, who is also Education Minister exhorted the Vice Chancellors of various universities to see that the entire system of imparting education and knowledge should be so as to surpass the foreign universities. He vowed to reshape and develop the universities to a great extent with needed funding, facilities, infrastructure and faculty.

Holding a meeting of Vice Chancellors here on Tuesday, the Deputy Chief Minister discussed the steps to be taken to revamp the varsities with a focus on standards and quality to imparting education. The varsities should shift their focus on offering the courses to get jobs to the students, he noted. He also exhorted the heads of the varsities to put in collective efforts to come up with a plan of action to compete and surpass varsities of other nations.

The State government was committed to restructure the varsities through all support enabling them to compete with foreign varsities in terms of quality and skills that will ultimately fetch jobs to the students in future, he said. “Our future generations should be prepared to face future challenges and withstand the problems besides serving the society ably”, Srihari felt.
