A meeting of the Committee on Environment of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was held here today under the chairmanship of MLA, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, which reviewed the measures to be taken for protection of environment and minimising the pollution levels in the State.Legislators, Usman Abdul Majeed, Dr. Krishan Lal, Noor Mohammad Sheikh, Ravinder Raina, Ch. Qamar Hussain, Abid Hussain Ansari, Shamim Firdous and Abdul Majeed Larmi attended the meeting and gave their suggestions for conservation and protection of environment and ecology in the State. Threadbare discussion were held on various issues relating to the Environment in the state including checking of pollution generating units like Brick Kilns, Stone crushers, Industrial Estates and other units.The Committee directed the officers of Assembly Secretariat to get a comprehensive report on status of Brick Kiln units working in the state from the concerned authorities.The Committee decided to discuss preservation and conservation of Dal Lake with the concerned authorities in its next meeting.Additional Secretary and officials of Assembly Secretariat also attended the meeting.
