Mazda Motor Corporation has announced that it is leaving Indonesia, but the automaker is not pulling out of the market completely, both Kompas and The Jakarta Post report.
The Japanese company will continue to have a presence in the market through Eurokars Motor Indonesia, which has been appointed as the Mazda distributor in the republic. It said the move will strengthen its business in the country.
Eurokars said that Mazda’s distribution network of 45 dealers in the country will be officially transferred from Mazda Motor Indonesia to Eurokars Indonesia in February. The company will absorb all existing staff members currently under the employ of Mazda Indonesia, and said it will honour warranties of all Mazda vehicles sold by Mazda Indonesia prior to the transfer.
Eurokars has been a Mazda dealer in Indonesia since 2007. The company, founded in 1985, is also the Mazda distributor in Singapore and has a dealership presence in Australia. Ahead of the transfer, Mazda Indonesia’s business entity will move from being a sole distributor to that of an importer from next month.

Mazda and many others on Malaysia will also close their CKD plant in Malaysia to open in Thailand. According to the Japs, they are fed up with MITI telling them how much to price their cars.
Mazda want to price their CX5 at RM120k but MITI tells them RM150k. Protek Protek Protek Plotong!
Mazda in Malaysia assembled by Berjaya Auto. Last I check they are not Japs.
Ninjaboy, U are right. We are very good in assembling cars. The original DNA is still Japs. Our assembly plants are one of the best in this region.
Beside Japs, we also assemble Germans/Koreans cars to facilitate our Gov tax structure to qualify as CKD which U already know.
Do you know doing CKD in Thailand is cheaper than Malaysia? First the facility is already there. Labour wages and every other thing are cheaper as well. And there is no import tax applies for ASEAN imports. No investment required and no ROI in waiting. Berjaya would be very interested to bring the cars from Thai.

That means Sales & Exercise duties. M’sian are basically paying more $$$ to own cars to our poor gov/PM in-order to spent as he pleases. I think U know what i mean.
They are are a lot more japanese than the other brands. many models are CBU direct from Japan and the CKD assembly is really a SKD in disguise. Go compare their local content in relation with others, they have less local content than even the Germans and French. Get your facts right before commenting.

You got it all wrong, the Japanese wanted to price mazda cars way much higher than they are now but local distributor and importer manage to coerce the Japanese to price them what they are now. Make sure you know what is coming out from your fingers before firing, BTW I’m an insider for this statement I made.

I highly doubt that will happen. In the last decade, Mazda sales have skyrocketed in Malaysia. This is mainly thanks to more local assembly and better aftersales. D.S. Ben Yeoh has done a fantastic job in turning around Mazda in our market. And Berjaya are taking their automotive business seriously now. Recently, they increased their stake in the Inokom plant (which assembles Mazdas).
Mazda Malaysia also exports the CX-5 to Thailand… this is a notable fact, because almost every locally assembled Japan-badged car is restricted to local consumption. In the future, we can expect Mazda to become even more relevant here. Not the other way around.

Mazda itu pabrikan kecil di dunia. Tidak akan sanggup bersaing dengan pabrikan besar seperti Toyota-Daihatsu yang memiliki pabrik yang besar di Indonesia. Jadi pilihannya menunjuk distributor lokal atau sekalian keluar dari Indonesia
