Watch: Karnataka man hacks woman with machete in Kolar temple; video goes viral

According to the Bethamangala police, the man, identified as Santhosh (25) attacked Kumari (50), with a sword around 8.45 pm at the Kotilingeshwara temple in Kammasandra where she works.

A man has been arrested in Karnataka’s Kolar for attempt to murder after he attacked a woman with machete multiple times in city’s Kotilingeshwara temple on Sunday. According to the Bethamangala police, the man, identified as Santhosh (25) attacked Kumari (50), with a sword around 8.45 pm at the Kotilingeshwara temple in Kammasandra where she works. In the video, the attacker is seen hacking the lady at her neck as she attempts to save herself. As per police, the attacker attempted to escape, but people on the streets and shops caught him and called police.

He is yet to be produced before court. Kumari was immediately taken to Mallya Hospital, where she is being treated for her injuries. The entire footage was recorded in the CCTV footage installed at the temple. The Hindu reported that Santosh allegedly assaulted the official for not clearing dues in connection with work done by his father. As per the report, Santosh’s father worked under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme when Kumari was president of Kammasandra gram panchayat a few years ago. Santosh’s father passed a couple of years ago and the temple didn’t clear his dues, said the report .
