Staff at Tarmac’s Dunbar Cement Plant have raised £370 at a coffee morning that they held in aid of Macmillan Cancer.

A selection of cakes were served in the Learning zone at the plant, including lemon drizzle, pecan and maple, gingerbread, fruit cake and chocolate fudge. The event was attended by the plant’s employees.

Oliver Curtin, interim plant manager at Dunbar Cement Plant, said: “It’s a good job some of our staff have a sweet tooth, because there were some excellent cakes and buns to choose from! This event was well supported from across the business and it is very satisfying to know that it is going to such a worthwhile cause.”

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. Companies and individuals host their own coffee mornings and donations on the day are made to Macmillan. Last year alone, the charity raised £25 million and since the coffee mornings began in 1990, Macmillan has raised £137m in this way.
