Algeria may camp in Togo for Nigeria game

FA will not rely on govt for coach’s salary
Algeria is planning to camp for three days in a West African country, tipped to be Togo, in preparation for their Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.

Algeria were held to a 1-1 draw by Cameroun in their opening group B game in Blida and the North Africans know that a defeat in Nigeria would put their 2018 World Cup dream in danger.

Reports in Algerian media indicate that the country’s football association is planning to do everything possible to ensure that the Desert Foxes leave Nigeria with their reputation as Africa’s number one team in tact, hence the concerted effort to ensure the team felt at home in Uyo on November 12.

“We cannot recruit coaches to pay 400 or 500,000 euros a month, I cannot give a salary of 5 or 6 million to a national coach,” he told ENTV in an interview.

“FAF work within their means and will not go to government to help in paying a coach as we have not done that since 2009.”
Several top French coaches including Rolland Courbis, Alain Perrin and Paul Le Guen have been linked with the vacant Algeria post.
