For AAP, new Cong drive is a political drama

Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday termed the Congress's plan to burn "Chitta Ravans" across the state as a "political drama". AAP poll campaign committee chairperson and Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann went to the extent of accusing Congress's state president, Captain Amarinder Singh, of adopting double standards when it came to the drug menace.
"Amarinder had saved Punjab minister Bikram Singh Majithia by opposing a CBI probe against him in the multi-crore ICE drug racket, but is now talking about burning Chitta Ravans," he said.
Mann said if Amarinder had been serious about the drug problem in Punjab, he would have supported AAP's demand for a CBI probe against Majithia for his alleged involvement in the multi-crore drug racket. "Amarinder should not forget that he was only one who opposed the CBI inquiry against Majithia when every Punjabi, including his own party members, was demanding it," he said.
Mann added that Amarinder had even ridiculed the then Punjab Congress chief, Partap Singh Bajwa, for demanding a CBI probe against Majithia, who is the son-in-law of chief minister Parkash Singh Badal.
